The American Dental Association (ADA) is the US’s prominent not-for-profit group of dental practitioners, with at least 160,000 members in its ranks; that’s at least one member per 200 citizens of the US! Since its founding in 1859, the ADA has headed the charge for strengthening the public’s oral health through providing information on dental health and increasing the skills and success of its members.
The ADA’s goal is to lead dental practitioners at all levels of society, so each member of the ADA participates with at least one of the ADA’s 53 state and 545 local chapters. Because the ADA is a not-for-profit organization, its leadership consists of a 480-officer House of Delegates and a Board of Trustees.
All the great work the members of the ADA do can’t be summarized into a single blog post. (Or at least not one that wasn’t ridiculously too long!) To find out how the action of the ADA impacts you, check your oral health products for the ADA seal of approval; the association tests and approves dental health goods so that you can know which ones are the best to use!
The ADA gives scholarships to high-achieving dental health students and disaster-relief/emergency supplies to those in need. If you’re going to college or vocational school for dentistry or in need of disaster-relief supplies, please check out the ADA’s website for more information on whether you qualify for aid.
Our dentist, Dr. Omar Damji, is a member of the ADA. This means that they pass along the benefits of ADA membership to you: the latest knowledge, industry-approved practices and trust, credibility and approval the seal carries.
